A re-elected Miles Labor Government will commit $20 million for the detailed design of the Deception Bay Road widening between the Bruce Highway and Park Road / Lipscombe Road intersection
With the first stage of planning now complete, this $20 million investment will enable detailed design to begin and early works to be planned
The project will ultimately reduce peak hour congestion and improve safety and traffic flow
Member for Brancroft Chris Whiting has confirmed a re-elected Miles Labor Government will invest $20 million for the detailed design stage of the Deception Bay Road widening from 2 to 4 lanes between the Bruce Highway and Park Road / Lipscombe Road intersection.
The project will see the widening Deception Bay Road to provide a four-lane, median divided, arterial road.
Additional improvements would include signalised and upgraded intersections at Priests Road, Krause Street and Warroo Drive and a new signalised pedestrian crossing on Deception Bay Road between Park Road/Lipscombe Road and Tallagon Court.
Community feedback has shown locals want to see improved active and public transport as well, so the detailed design will include off road active transport pathways and 8 new bus stops.

“This will be a game-changer for my community, from commuters to every day traffic in and around Deception Bay.
“With community consultation and planning now completed, we can get on with the detailed design to make sure this upgrade gets underway.
“The Miles Labor Government is serious about busting congestion for everyday Queenslanders, getting everyone home quicker and safer.
“That’s why we are investing in the road and transport infrastructure and public and active transport initiatives that will save you time and money.”
Quotes attributable to Bart Mellish, Minister for Transport and Main Roads:
“This is a rapidly growing area and we want to make sure our road infrastructure grows with the community.
“By Widening Deception Bay Road to provide a four-lane, median divided, arterial road, we are increasing capacity, improving traffic flows and building a safer road.
“There will also be New service roads to consolidate access to Deception Bay Road, making it a more efficient drive for everyone.
“These kinds of investments are only possible if you invest in infrastructure, not cut it by $1.6 billion like the LNP last time they were in power.
“We know they have more than $17 BILLION in unfunded promises, and we know they will cut important projects like these.”
